Sunrise have sacked Hassan Muhire as their head coach after less than four months in charge, following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Rayon Sports in Rwanda Premier League.
Muhire was appointed as Innocent Seninga’s successor on June 23 on a reportedly two-year deal, but has departed the Nyagatare district-based side just four months later. With six points from seven matches, he left the club at the rock-bottom of the league’s table.
Throughout his tenure at Sunrise, the former Rugende head coach managed to win only two games and lose five, conceding nine goals while scoring only three.
The main trigger for his dismissal is the club’s 3-0 shocking defeat at the hands of Rayon Sports at Kigali Pele Stadium, in which Heritier Luvumbu netted a stunning hat-trick.
Sunrise president Hodari Hilary said that Muhire’s dismissal was a result of the club’s subpar performances.
“The committee held a meeting and decided that this is the appropriate resolution,” he said.
Muhire is the second coach in the league to be fired thus far this season following Yamen Zelfani, who parted ways with Rayon Sports earlier this month.
Sunrise will take on Muhazi United in Rwanda Premier League on October 29.
