President Paul Kagame welcoming 2017. He said security and national unity as always are the foundation of Rwanda’s progress
President Paul Kagame has welcomed the new year just seconds after it clocked midnight January 1, 2017.
In the 2 minutes and 40 seconds address to the nation, the president said although a lot was achieved in 2016, citizens shouldn’t relax but work hard and aim higher.
“It would be a mistake to slow down, simply because expectations have been exceeded in some areas,” he said in his speech broadcast on national media.
The head of state reassured Rwandans, “we will not allow anything to compromise what we have achieved,” he said, adding that security and national unity as always are the foundation of , “our progress.”
In conclusion of his speech, President Kagame said, “lets continue to aim as high as we can, at all levels, not only in government but also in private sector.”
