Rwanda’s Ministry of Education has revised the school calendar after irregularities that were caused by COVID-19 lockdown.
Accordingly, Primary five, six, three, Senior six, TVET, and TCCs from provinces who started on 2nd November will break off for holidays on 2nd April 2021 for term two.
The same applies to students from the similar classes in Kigali though they had another interruption due to the lockdown in the capital city between 17th January and 22nd February.
Still in Kigali city, primary four, senior one, senior two, senior four, level three TVET, and year one in TCCs will also close the second term on 3rd April 2021.
For term three, upper primary, general secondary, TVET, and TTCs will start studies on 19th April and close on 9th J July 2021.
These classes will break off for term three holidays on 10th July 2021 as the country prepares Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) that will from 12th to 14th July 2021.
The national secondary examination for Ordinary Level, Senior six, TTC level three, and TVET level five will start on 20th up to 30th July 2021.
Meanwhile, the nursery schools and lower primary education in the provinces started term one on 18th January and will end on 2nd April 2021.
The nursery schools and lower primary education in the city of Kigali started on 23rd February and will close term one on 2nd April.
Term two will start on 19th April and end on 9th July 2021, for nursery schools and lower primary education.
For term three of the same level (nursery schools and lower primary education) will start on 2nd August and end on 17th September.
According to the ministry of education, weekends will be dedicated to remedial activities as needed.
