Reigning champions Patriots Basketball club maintained a perfect start to the start as they went six matches unbeaten following their 70-54 victory over Espoir BBC in the Bank of Kigali National Basketball League which was underway over the weekend.
Henry Mwinuke’s side started the game on a brilliant note winning the first two quarters 20-15 and 15-13 before going into half-time with a 35-28 lead.
Patriots BBC extended the lead in the second-half by winning the third and fourth quarters 12-7 and 23-19 to seal off the game with a 70-54 victory.
Patriots BBC’s star Steve Havugintwari posted a game-high 16 points while point guard Mugabe and Makiadi contributed 12 and 11 points, in that order, to the victory.
The win extended their unbeaten record to six matches, earning twelve points, one point ahead of REG which was not in action this weekend.
In other matches played over the weekend, UGB BBC defeated IPRC Kigali 90-82 to move into fifth position with seven points, APR BBC defeated both Rusizi BBC 81-62 and UR BBC 100-54 to maintain third spot with 10 points.
Espoir BBC is ranked fourth with nine points followed by IPRC Kigali BBC who are ranked fifth with eight points.
Rusizi BBC is placed seventh with seven points; UR BBC is placed eighth with six points, two points ahead of bottom-placed IPRC Huye who have four points in four matches played this season.
