Minister of Local Government Anastase Shyaka, the chief guest at the event said that hospitality has potentials to improve and the rankings aims at showing gaps that need to be bridged.

Shyaka said “This is the only way to make the private sector richer, and it calls for continues improvement to contribute to our national transformation strategy,” he said.

“Tourism brought in close to half billion dollar last year but by 2024 we expect close to one billion which is a double digit growth. We expect you to contribute to that,” he said.

The head evaluation Emmanuel Nsabimana revealed that most of the hotels had difficulties meeting requirements of lobbies, mixed up restaurants and bar areas, suites without full requirements yet very important and non-existence of human resource management with many non-contracted workers.
