The World Bank and Rwanda will today launch the Future Drivers of Growth – a study that evaluates Rwanda’s strengths and weaknesses to identify reform areas that would allow its high growth trajectory.

The study will be launched by World Bank Group Chief Executive Officer Kristalina Georgieva and Prime Minister Dr. Edourd Ngirente at Marriott Hotel in the capital Kigali.

According to Finance Ministry, this study was conducted by senior experts from Rwanda and the World Bank centers on the country’s strong and inclusive GDP growth sustained over an extended period and Rwanda’s ambitions to achieve living standards of high income countries by 2050.

The study draws upon substantial academic literature and lessons from other countries – particularly the growth experiences of the East Asian Tigers and other relevant experience, Finance Ministry says.

The Future Drivers of Growth team conducted significant analysis over 2017 and early 2018, culminating in the formal report to be launched.

Meanwhile yesterday, World Bank Group CEO Kristalina Georgieva met with President Paul Kagame and discussed country progress and partnership.

“Was a pleasure meeting with Kristalina Georgieva. Enjoyed our productive meeting on doing business, strengthening our cooperation even further in Human Capital development, trade, infrastructure, energy, urbanization, agriculture. We appreciate Rwanda’s outstanding partnership with World Bank!” President Kagame said on his Twitter handle.

“We also had discussion on geopolitics and importance and challenges of regional integration,” Kagame added.

World Bank has been Rwanda’s key partner in economic transformation. In its latest annual ‘Doing Business’ report, the Bank ranked Rwanda 29th globally and 2nd in Africa in the ease of doing business.
