Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) has today released the calendar of the 4th edition of Rwanda Cycling Cup. The competition returns to some great venues for the 2018 series.
Rwanda Cycling Cup is the national championship of the Rwanda’s cycling game. It attracts all local based riders featuring for various clubs as well as Rwandan riders based abroad.
The season is slated to start on Saturday, March 24, 2018 with the Memorial Lambert Byemayire,the race named in honour of the former Rwanda Cycling Federation Vice President who passed away in 2016.
The ten-month-long competition will climax on December 15, 2018 with the champion crowned after the final race which will be held in Kigali.
Speaking during the media briefing, Rwanda Cycling Federation president Aimable Bayingana said, “This year’s edition of the Rwanda Cycling Cup has been prepared in accordance with the UCI calendar to enable all to riders compete effectively in all lined up series.”
The 2018 edition of Rwanda Cycling Cup is composed of 11 races nationwide that will showcase the Rwandan riders competing for honours.
Patrick Byukusenge is the reigning champion after winning the Rwanda Cycling Cup 2017.
Benediction Club youngster, Yves Nkurunziza 17, won the juniors’ category, while the women’s race was won by Ingabire Beatha in 3h6’ 8’’ Amis Sportifs de Rwamagana, whose teammate Xaverine Nirere claimed the overall trophy.
The 2018 Rwanda Cycling Cup is jointly sponsored by Skol Rwanda and Cogebanque.
