The Minister of Justice and Attorney General has handed over to the new minister of Interior Alfred Gasana who was appointed last week.
Since the removal of General Patrick Nyamvumba from the position of Minister nearly 20 months ago, Interior duties have been handled under the Ministry of Justice.
The new minister of Interior said that security is a cross cutting factor which influences economy, social affairs, governance, justice to mention quite a few.
“Every citizen should understand their responsibility in country security so that they contribute to it optimally,” Minister Gasana said.
The Minister pledges to work with several institutions including most obviously, security institutions.
Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General said, that all staff in duties relevant to security will be transferred to the new ministry with all the files, while Ministry of Justice continue with justice responsibilities as it has been initially.
He attracted attention of the new minister of interior to the increasing cybercrimes and requested him to give them special attention.
