Gasabo Primary court has this afternoon denied bail to Idamange Yvonne Iryamugwiza, a Rwandan woman from Gasabo, Kimironko in Kigali city who is in court over six charges related to a series of Youtube videos she published on her channel last month.
On March 4, the court heard that Idamange is facing six charges which include inciting insurrections or public uprising, denigrating genocide commemoration artifacts, publication of rumours, assault and causing bodily harm, obstructing the work of law enforcement organs and issuing a bouncing cheque.
The 42-year-old mother of four pleaded not guilty to all the charges, claiming that she made the remarks and posted the videos out of depression brought about by the lockdown.
Today, the court ordered a-30 day provisional detention against Idamange pending more investigation in her case. The court said there are serious grounds that pushed the decision to remand her, adding that she might evade if released.
Idamange and her lawyer who was following the ruling virtually said she will file an appeal case.
