The famous Gorilla Naming ceremony Kwita Izina is around the corner where Rwanda is set to celebrate another milestone in its conservation story as new baby gorillas named this year.
The event is scheduled on September 6,2019 and will attract celebrities from all works of lives worldwide.
At least 25 baby gorillas born from fourteen families between September 2018 and September 2019 are lined up to be given names at the traditional ceremony slated for September 6th in Kinigi, Musanze district, Northern Province.
To be named include a baby gorilla that was born in Musirikare family by mother Izihirwa on October 9th 2018.
Also in the same month born in Isimbi Family was blessed with a new born from Isura mother on September 23, 2018.
The following day – September 24, mother Umurinzi from Sabyinyo Group also delivered a baby who will be named barely aged one year.
In October 2018, Igisha group was blessed with a new born from Impuhwe mother – October 10.
The following morning, Kwitonda Group was blessed with a baby gorilla born to Mbilimbili mother.
By the time the two mothers delivered, two more were expectant.
In Amahoro group, mother Mbere delivered on October 14 while mother Akamaro from Kureba family delivered on October 25.
November 2018 was a blessing for Family Groups like Susa, where mother Ruvumu gave birth on 20th.
On November 21, Mother Nsaganira from Ntambara group also increased the Rwanda’s gorilla community with one more baby.
Coming this year was a baby from Mother Teta in Pablo group on January 25, 2019.
In the same family mother Shishikara delivered on March 11th followed by Mother Gutangara on April 25.
