Rayon Sports Football Club is set to lift their ninth league title should they secure maximum points in their match day 29encounter against Kirehe Fc in the 2018/19 Azam Rwanda Premier League season which will wind up on June 1.

After 28 games, and with only two match rounds left this season, Roberto Oliveira’s Rayon – who swept aside Musanze 3-1 on Friday – top the table standings with 66 points, four ahead of second-placed, and reigning champions, APR FC, who fell to AS Muhanga in a disappointing 1-2 loss thanks to a double from Yannick Bizimana on Saturday in a match staged at Stade de Muhanga.

The 2017 league title winners need to maintain a perfect finish on Friday, May 24 when they play away to Kirehe Fc to be guaranteed of dethroning APR Fc as this season’s champions. Should Rayon Sports FC win Friday’s match, they will be crowned 2018/19 ARPL season champions in their final match of the season due on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Stade de Kigali.

For APR, 17-time champions, who have two matches left, at home against Espoir FC on Saturday, May 25 at Stade de Kigali and away to Police FC in the final game of the season on June 1, will be hoping that their rivals lose away to Kirehe to return back in the title chase before the title champion is decided in the final game of the season.

However, by the performances exhibited by a motivated Rayon Sports in recent matches, it only seems impossible for them to just drop any point in the remaining six points at stake.

Meanwhile, Mukura VS defeated Marines FC 1-0 at Huye stadium on Saturday to cement their third place finish with 55 points, Kirehe Fc jumped from the relegation zone following a 2-1 win away to Sunrise FC to go 14th with 27 points while Espoir FC and AS Kigali played a 1-all draw in Rusizi.
