Rwanda’s duo Charly Na Nina have cancelled their Kampala show citing security reasons.
The Owooma hit makers were slated to perform in Kampala in a show dubbed Unplugged on 1st May together with Uganda’s vocalist Geosteady.
Speaking to KT Press, Nina Muhoza the lead singer confirmed the news of turning down the show in Kampala.
“We have already canceled the gig we had in Uganda in early May over security reasons. Instead we are much focusing on our upcoming UK tour,” says Nina.
The government of Rwanda recently issued a notice warning its citizens not to travel to Uganda due to incidents of Rwandans being kidnapped and tortured in Uganda.
This is not the first time Rwandan artists ditch shows in Uganda.
In December 2018, Rwandan singer based in America The Ben cancelled the show he had been contracted to in Uganda at last minute.
Charly Na Nina have made successful shows and won awards in Uganda in previous years as well as working with Ugandan artists.
The Uburyohe singers are slated to perform in UK early September on the same stage with Uganda’s finest comedian Alex Muhangi and Kenya’s Eric Omondi.
Charly Na Nina are famous for hit songs like Indoro, Owoma, Agatege and have managed to win hearts of music lovers across the region especially in Uganda and Burundi.
