Kigali City sponsored side AS Kigali is favourite to snatch their maiden 2019 Heroes Cup title after securing four points in two matches played so far.
AS Kigali have so far secured one victory over APR FC (1-0) and goalless draw against Rayon Sports Fc.
Head Coach Masudi Djuma said in Tuesday post-match press conference, “We will go into the last match looking for nothing less than a win. We have an advantage over Etincelles FC who so far lost two matches and I believe if we maintain our consistence, we will win the game with a better goal margin and eventually lift the title,” Masudi added.
The Burundian tactician is keen on making up for the disappointing 2017-18 season in which As Kigali went trophy-less despite heavily investing in the transfer market.
In the other game, leaders Rayon Sports FC and APR FC will face each other on the final day of the tournament which will coincide with the eventual National Heroes Day, February 1- the country’s biggest football clash.
Rayon Sports have four points with a 2-goal difference while APR FC are third with three points and a better three-goal difference.
The tournament winners will pocket Rwf4 million besides winning the trophy, twice the cash prize for first runners-up. The second runners-up and bottom side will walk away with Rwf1.5 million and Rwf1 million, respectively.
