Rwandan side Mukura VS
Rwanda’s lone representatives in the CAF Interclubs Competitions, Mukura VS has been drawn against Sudanese most successful club Al Hilal Omdurman in the second 1/16th round of the Total CAF Confederation Cup 2018/19.
The draw procedure for the draw of the second 1/16th round of the Total CAF Confederation Cup was held on Friday evening at the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo, Egypt.
The Huye-based side will head to Khartoum for the first leg against Al Hilal Omburman in the weekend of January 11-13, 2019 before hosting the return at Stade Huye in the weekend of January 18-20, 2019.
To reach the second 1/16th round, Mukura VS knocked out Sudanese side Al Hilal Obeid 5-4 on penalties shootouts following a goalless draw, in regular time, in a nail-biting and dramatic game staged on December 21 at Stade Huye.
Their opponents Al Hilal Omburman were knocked by Tunisian side Club Africain in the CAF Total Champions League to drop into the confederation Cup round.
They lost the first leg 3-0 before managing a 1-all draw in the return leg to bow out 4-1 on aggregate. Al Hilal Omburman has ten appearances in the CAF Confederation Cup and managed to reach in the group stage of the 2018 edition.
The Peace Cup holders, Mukura VS, are taking part in the continental showpiece for the first time in 18 years, since 2000 when they were knocked out from the first round by Ethiopian side Awassa City.
The winners of the second 1/16th round of the Total CAF Confederation Cup will progress to the lucrative group stage, whose action is slated for February, 2019.
