President Paul Kagame hosted visiting FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Thursday at Village Urugwiro in the capital Kigali.
The FIFA boss is in Kigali for the 8th FIFA Council Meeting which will be held at the Kigali Convention Center on Friday.
Rwanda was chosen hosts of the 8th FIFA Council Meeting during FIFA’s first meeting of the year held in March, 2018 in Bogotá, Colombia.
The FIFA Council Meeting which will attract over 100 delegates from different confederations across the globe will focus on issues pertaining to the development of football.
The FIFA Council (formerly the FIFA Executive Committee) is an institution of FIFA (the governing body of association football, futsal and beach soccer).
It is the main decision-making body of the organization in the intervals of FIFA Congress. Its members are elected by the FIFA Congress. The council is a non-executive, supervisory and strategic body that sets the vision for FIFA and global football.
The FIFA Council Meeting will discuss among others the Preparation money, Club Benefits Programme and prize money for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.
The meeting will also amend the FIFA Forward Development Programme Regulations – Forward 2.0, appoint host of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2019, host for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2020 and approve regulations for the Olympic Football Tournaments Tokyo 2020.
Upon the climax of the FIFA Council Meeting, FIFA boss Infantino will address media in a press conference slated for 13:00.
