Louise Mushikiwabo – Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Minister has been unanimously elected as the next Secretary General of the Organisation of the French speaking nations (OIF) in elections that took place this morning in Yerevan – the capital City of Armenia.
Rwanda’s Office of the President confirmed this in a tweet.
“Heads of State and Government of OIF member countries unanimously confirm Louise Mushikiwabo as the next OIF Secretary General following President Kagame presentation of Minister Mushikiwabo as Africa’s and Rwanda’s candidate.” State House said on Twitter.
Mushikiwabo will serve four years renewable and will work from the organization headquarters in Paris – France.
Meanwhile, congratulations messages are pouring in to wish Rwanda’s successful foreign Affairs Minister the best ahead of the new task.
Mushikiwabo who was campaigning along the organization’s incumbent Michaelle Jean, had served at the helm of Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs Ministry for 10 years.
