Rwanda handball team thrashed Sudan 55-8 to register their second victory in the on-going 2018 Africa Zone 5 Junior International Handball Federation (IHF) Challenge Trophy in Kampala.

Rwanda who are defending champions and favorites to win the tournament, sealed a comfortable victory over the Sudanese side to boost their chances of reaching the final.

The victory comes moments after the Rwandan juniors edged Uganda with a 30-29 victory on Monday.

This year’s tournament has attracted Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Somalia in Group while Group is composed of Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan and Kenya.

Focus will now shift to Thursday’s encounter against neighbors of Burundi before wrapping up group stages against Somalia on Friday.

Semi-finals of the biennial regional competition will be played on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s final and third place play-off.

Champions in this Zone 5 tourney will book a slot at the continental championship which also doubles as the world cup qualifiers.

Last time Uganda hosted the championship in 2016, the men’s side were beaten by Rwanda while the women’s team overpowered rivals Kenya in the final.
