The Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has confirmed council member Constant Omari Selemani as their election delegate to observe the upcoming FERWAFA election.
Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) will go to polls on Saturday to elect its President that will serve a four-year term from 2018 to 2021.
Omari, 2nd Vice President Constant Omari Selemani, who also doubles as the President of DR Congo FA (FECOFA) is expected to arrive in Rwanda on Thursday.
The development was confirmed by Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) on Wednesday following a communication from FIFA’s Director Member Associations & Development, Africa – Caribbean, Mr. Veron Mosengo-Omba confirming Selemani’s delegation as an observer for FERWAFA elections.
Mosengo-Omba said, “FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, in agreement with the President of CAF, wishes to assure you of the presence of a distinguished representative of FIFA and the CAF in the person Mr. Constant Omari Selemani. President of FECOFA, Vice President of CAF and member of the FIFA Council, Constant Omari will represent not only CAF but also FIFA at your AGM,”
“Thanking you for a good welcome and facilitating your stay in Rwanda, we wish you a good AG and good luck to all candidates,” added Mosengo-Omba.
Last week, CAF also confirmed Selemani as their representative at the FERWAFA’s Elective General Assembly in a communication sent by Secretary General Amr Fahmy.
On Saturday, incumbent president Nzamwita Vincent will battle against his executive member in charge of women football who also doubles as the vice president of Rwanda National Olympic and Sport Committee Madam Rwemalika Felicite.
