The National Institute of Statistics (NISR) is expected before the end of this year to complete construction of a training centre worth Rwf7billion.
Yusuf Murangwa the NISR Director General says the institute is focusing on building professional capacity of its staff.
According to Murangwa, the centre will help improve data management; “The more people with capacity the better and that is what we are aiming for,” He said, adding that “when you build capacity for many people, of course, it translates to abilities to use statistics and understand how they are related to policies and development.”
On wider perspective, Murangwa says this facility is destined to be turned into a regional training centre in statistics.
