Rwanda’s Former Prime Minister, Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi, has been appointed the President of the country’s Chancellery for Heroes, National Orders and Decorations of Honor.

Dr. Habumuremyi’s appointment was announced Friday, during an extra-ordinary cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame.

Habumuremyi, who served as Rwanda’s Prime Minister from 7 October 2011 to 24 July 2014, was dropped in a reshuffle and replaced by Anastase Murekezi.

Dr. Habumuremyi had previously served as a member of East Africa’s Legislative Assembly (EALA) before heading Education Ministry.

President Kagame is widely known for his tough measures against poor service delivery in his government, which analysts say could have triggered former Premier’s impromptu replacement.
