CHAN: Super Eagles Defender Adeleye Doubtful for Chan

Nigerian giant defender will be out of action for at least three weeks after he injured his foot during Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL) Invitational Tournament game against Plateau United FC while preparing for CHAN.

According to AOIFOOTBALL.COM twitter, Eagles Star Adeleye is Doubtful for CHAN After he was injured in the game.

“Olamilekan was stretchered off early in the home-based Super Eagles Nigeria Professional Football League invitational tournament Group A clash against the NPFL champions and was replaced by Enugu Rangers defender Kalu Orji” the AOI football twitted.

Olamilekan adds to the third major injury of Nigerian side doubt for next month’s CHAN in Morocco after Winger Joseph Osadiaye and Katsina United midfielder Destiny Ashadi and was also dropped due to an ankle injury.

Giant central defender Olamilekan Adeleye was one of the stand-out performers when Nigeria reached the final of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup in Ghana this year.

According to Nigerian Football Federation, the team started camp over the weekend in Kano at the Sani Abacha Stadium under the tutelage of their Head Coach Salisu Yusuf.

Meanwhile, Amavubi of Rwanda in the same group with super Eagles declared their preparation ahead of CHAN with 23-man squad without the foreign-based players who will re-group on January 1st before travelling to Tunisia for preparations.

According to CHAN fixture, Group C comprises of Libya, Nigeria, Rwanda and Equatorial Guinea and all the games will be based in Tangier in Morocco.

The group will tie in the following category:

Group A (Casablanca): Morocco, Guinea, Sudan and Mauritania.

Group C (Tangier): Libya, Nigeria, Rwanda and Equatorial Guinea.

Group D (Agadir): Angola, Cameroon, Congo and Burkina Faso.

Group B (Marrakech): Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia, Uganda and Namibia.
